Another jewel of the Saronic Gulf, with lots of green, calm beaches and a safe place for yachts to drop anchor as it is physically protected form the winds, separated from the mainland of the Peloponnese by a strait of 250m, making it like a portrait looking place at day and at night where the lights of the houses, the streets and the tavernas on both sides of the strait plus the ones of the yachts create a very romantic feeling and “Coming into Poros gives the illusion of the deep dream” as the American novelist and writer Henry Miller once said.

The island is popular for its slow-paced life and sandy beaches with tall pine trees reaching the seashores. During the evening at the tavernas all around the port, the smell of the octapus grilled on the charcoal and of the ouzo-on-ice plus the local goodies with fresh fish and vegetables make a tasty night, which might not end until the early hours of the next day as on both sides of the strait trendy bars offer fantastic coctails and music and the boat taxis cross the strait all night long taking people for bar-surfing on both sides.

On the other side of the strait there is a very picturesque gulf with lots of small sandy beaches, a few hotels and apartments and a famous monastery with its own beach at the very end of it.
